When a team of Chilean entrepreneurs approached us with a vision to make sustainable, plant-based living easier for everyone, they had a bold idea—and a clear mission. Their startup, vGreat, aimed to create a full-service platform that would connect people with vegan products, ethical brands, and eco-conscious services. But beyond the business opportunity, they were driven by values: sustainability, accessibility, and impact.
What they needed wasn’t just a development team to write code. They needed a technology partner that could help them turn their mission into a digital product—one that would serve multiple audiences, scale effectively, and reflect their green philosophy in every technical and design decision.
At Zarego, we believe that meaningful tech starts with a meaningful vision. So we joined forces to bring vGreat to life: a scalable e-commerce platform with native mobile apps, a delivery management system, and a lightweight serverless backend designed to minimize environmental impact.
Here’s how we helped launch Chile’s #1 sustainable delivery app—and why this project stands out as one of our most mission-driven builds to date.
What Was at Stake: Building a Platform That Had to Live Its Values
From day one, the biggest challenge wasn’t the marketplace itself. Technically, we’ve built dozens of platforms with similar features—multi-sided commerce, inventory systems, delivery coordination, and admin dashboards.
But vGreat wasn’t just a product; it was a promise. Every design choice, architectural decision, and technology selected had to support their core values: sustainability, transparency, and user empowerment.
They weren’t looking for shortcuts. The backend needed to be energy-efficient. The UX had to be fast and inclusive. The delivery flow needed to work for human-powered and low-emission transportation. And the infrastructure couldn’t just be scalable—it had to be green.
Meanwhile, the product had to serve three very different groups:
- End users shopping for vegan products across web and mobile
- Admins managing orders, vendors, inventory, and customer service
- Delivery crew who needed lightweight, real-time tools in the field
To succeed, the platform had to deliver seamless performance, user-friendly interfaces, and operational efficiency—while staying true to its ethical foundation.
Designing the Right Solution: From Discovery to Eco-Conscious Deployment
We began the project with a full Discovery phase. We interviewed stakeholders, mapped out all user journeys, and defined the ideal experience for each persona—from first-time vegan shoppers to logistics staff handling hundreds of orders.
This phase shaped our development roadmap and clarified which technologies could support the platform’s dual goals: seamless functionality and sustainable performance.
A Modular Ecosystem
Our solution broke down into four core components:
- Users’ Website – A responsive e-commerce interface optimized for fast browsing and checkout.
- iOS and Android Mobile Apps – Built with React Native to reduce development effort and energy usage.
- Admin Control Panel – A custom dashboard to manage products, users, logistics, and vendors.
- Delivery Crew App – A lightweight Android app with real-time routing and order tracking.
Each component was developed in isolation, using a modular approach that allowed us to ship features incrementally and run tests in production-like environments. This kept the team agile and reduced unnecessary computation during development.
A Sustainable Tech Stack
We made every infrastructure decision with sustainability in mind. Here’s how the final stack shaped up:
- Frontend:
- React for the web application
- React Native for mobile, with shared components to avoid code duplication
- React for the web application
- Backend:
- AWS Lambda for all logic (serverless, energy-efficient, autoscaling)
- API Gateway and DynamoDB for fast, scalable, low-maintenance APIs
- S3 and CloudFront for asset hosting and edge delivery
- AWS Lambda for all logic (serverless, energy-efficient, autoscaling)
- DevOps:
- IaC with Terraform and GitHub Actions for lightweight, repeatable CI/CD
- Monitoring with minimal overhead using CloudWatch logs and alarms
- IaC with Terraform and GitHub Actions for lightweight, repeatable CI/CD
These technologies weren’t just chosen for speed or cost—they were picked because they reduced our compute footprint, adapted to traffic spikes without overprovisioning, and minimized the idle load typical in traditional server deployments.
UX and Accessibility
We designed every user interface with clarity and accessibility in mind. The color scheme and typography followed WCAG guidelines to ensure contrast and readability. The UX was optimized for low-bandwidth environments, enabling faster load times and less data usage—an often overlooked but important aspect of digital sustainability.
Even small choices—like limiting the use of heavy animations or relying on device-native components—were guided by our commitment to reducing unnecessary resource consumption.
What Changed: A Platform That Delivered on Every Front
After development, testing, and refinements, vGreat officially launched with a full digital ecosystem:
- A responsive, user-friendly website for browsing and shopping
- Two native mobile apps built on shared code for maximum efficiency
- A robust admin dashboard that gave the team full visibility and control
- A specialized delivery app optimized for minimal device use and maximum speed
vGreat immediately stood out—not just for the quality of its product catalog or the performance of its platform, but because it embodied its values at every level of the experience.
From infrastructure choices to user design, the platform delivered not only convenience, but confidence. Users could trust that their experience was powered by the same ethics the brand promoted.

Results at a Glance
- #1 sustainable delivery app in Chile for vegan products
